Papal Visit to Canada – Pray, Watch, Reflect – Walking Together…

As we prepare to welcome Pope Francis to Canada, we invite Catholics from across the country to participate in this historic journey in a number of different ways. In addition to television coverage of papal events, visit www.papalvisit.ca or www.visitepapale.ca to access more than 10 livestream links of coverage featuring interpretation in many languages (including Indigenous languages), as well as livestream links from Vatican TV including commentary.

Last Liturgy celebrated at St Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church Princess Street

August 4 and 6, 1968 – Sunday and the Feastday of the Transfiguration. The Divine Liturgies are served for the last time at the church on Princess and Pender St in Vancouver.

 

August 11,1968 – Sunday – On this date Divine Liturgies are now celebrated on Sundays at the Ukrainian Catholic Centre.( 3150 Ash Street) During the week the Fathers Isadore Dziadyk OSBM, Father Juvenalius Slota OSBM and Father Boniface Sloboda OSBM  moved from Princess Street residence to their new monastry residence (though not yet totally completed)

 This is a beginner to intermediate course.

If you are interested in painting, if you want to learn how to paint in an historic spiritual style, this is the perfect course. You will have a step by step guidance from a pro and you will learn how to paint icons from scratch. This course has video lessons and a pdf file with useful infos. 

This course has 4 sections:

·         In the first section you will find a course presentation, a PDF with all needed materials for the course and a lesson that gives you some infos about the history of byzantine art. 

·         In the second section you will learn how to paint a hand in the byzantine style.

·         In the third section you will find painting lessons regarding 3 types of clothing used in the iconography painting.

·         In the last section you will learn how to paint 2 icons from the beginning to the end (an icon of the Virgin Mary and an icon of Jesus Christ).
